Three ways to create more happiness with your co-workers
It has been said that if you want to increase your levels of happiness, you can do this by supporting other people to be happy too. Fostering a workplace full of happiness goes beyond organising yoga classes and such. It’s a practice that must be done every day because when employees are taken care of, they take care of the company.
Below are three reasons why elevating happiness with your co-workers is essential and the three ways how you can put them into action!
The benefits of richer wellbeing at work
Happy employees are successful
Happiness, motivation and success all go hand-in-hand, research has proven that happy employees seek opportunities to grow, build relationships and problem solve differently. When you have the first two, employees are supported to be more productive and create the best work they can produce.
Reduces stress
The workplace can be one, if not the most, of the most stressful places on Earth. The last few years have seen a massive increase in anxiety, mental health concerns at work and reduced sense of connection. It’s a complex and two way problem that requires both a company culture fix to break down barriers to happiness and providing employees with tools and resources to discern and cultivate what they need to be happier.
Fosters creativity
When employees are not pressured and can think freely, the best ideas come up and companies thrive. In addition, employees are proud of their creations and the results they bring to the company, thus motivating them to do better each day.
Three ways to help your co-workers or team elevate their happiness
Commit to doing random acts of kindness
Let’s look at a couple of ways to surprise and delight your co-workers each week.
Could you offer some praise?
How about organising a virtual coffee roulette date? Take a moment to go on an adventure with your co-worker and learning something new about each other.
Make time and space for an honest connection or check in.
Think of ways to support somebody to complete a project quicker.
Teamcare is just as important as self-care. Taking the time to understand your co-workers energy, needs and momentum can help you spot when your co-worker may be under stress or has personal problems that can be affecting their performance.
What could you do by way of supporting them to complete and cross the finish line? You might think this is counterintuitive especially if your work is piling up, but relaising thebalance of independent and interdependent effort is key for team success.
Create some plans to stimulate a better mood in the workplace.
Companies are now sending back their employees to offices; however, some employees have seen the value of working to their strengths in their our home environment.
As a manager, how can you foster a better mood or environment for employees to feel supported and overcome their fears of going back to the office? Laying the foundations for team care, connection & wellbeing starts with you. It begins with choiceful experiments with your teams to learn more about where they can excel in the office and co-create key changes that can be made to create a smarter and healthier workplace.
